Countdown to Commencement 2025!

Here are final details to smooth out your pathway to the ceremony. 

Live Stream

Rehearsal

The rehearsal is on Friday, May 9 at 10 a.m. in Birthright Alumni Hall takes about 40 minutes, after which you will pick up your walk authorization card. You should be done in an hour and a half or so. Volunteers will show you where to sit. You must have an authorization card to participate in your ceremony.

 Ceremony

  •  The 2025 commencement ceremony will be held in Birthright Alumni Hall due to weather.
    • Saturday, May 10, 2025, 9 a.m.
  • Graduates: You should arrive by 7:30 a.m. Graduates line up at the east entrance of Birthright Alumni Hall from Sheppard Lawn. You may decorate your caps. Leave coats or bags with your guests.
  • Graduates will pick up their degrees inside the Birthright Alumni Hall glass foyer following the ceremony.
  • Guests: Guest seating is open, not assigned, and gates open 1 hour before the ceremony begins.
  • Golden Class 50 Year Reunion members will gather at Snedecor Hall at 7 a.m.

 Directions/Parking/Entering Birthright Alumni Hall

  • Directions: Enter the Stillman College campus through the main gate at 38th Avenue off of Stillman Blvd. Birthright Alumni Hall is on the left as you enter campus. The 18th Street entrance will be only for Faculty & Staff. Students will enter through the 36th Avenue entrance next to Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church.
  • Parking is available in the lot adjacent to Birthright Alumni Hall and in the lot adjacent to Wynn Center on Campus Drive. Additional parking is available at Stillman Stadium.
  • Guests should enter Birthright Alumni Hall through the building’s west entrance in the glass foyer. Doors will open at 8 a.m. The doors will lock at 9 a.m., and a side entrance will be available along the south side of the building near Sheppard Lawn.

Ticket procedures

  • Tickets are not required for entry.

Overflow areas

  • Overflow area will be available inside the Stinson Auditorium and Wynn Center’s Warner Presentation Room to view the live stream of the ceremony. 
  • The ceremonies will also be live streamed on YouTube for anyone watching at another location.

Keynote Speaker & Honorary Degree: Melonie D. Parker

Ms. Melonie D. Parker, Google’s vice president for employee engagement, will give the keynote address at Commencement. In addition, Stillman College will confer an honorary degree to Ms. Parker.

A first-generation college graduate from an HBCU, Parker has built a career with 30+ years of experience aligning talent with company goals. She’s passionate about inclusive cultures and believes in “adding in instead of fitting in.”

“We are honored to welcome Ms. Parker to the Stillman College campus to speak with our graduates. She has shown her commitment to Stillman College through our partnership with Google and has been a strong champion and advocate for HBCUS. Her personal journey and passion about inclusive cultures will inspire our students,” said Dr. Yolanda W. Page, president of Stillman College.

A recognized industry leader, Parker has held HR leadership roles at Sandia National Laboratories and Lockheed Martin. She holds degrees from Hampton University and Villanova University and serves on several boards, including the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the Board of Trustees for Hampton University. Her support of HBCUs includes leading Google’s partnership with Stillman College, including combined grants and gifts of $1.5 million over the last two years to the College’s cybersecurity clinic and certification.Parker has been recognized by The Root 100 as one of its most influential Black Americans and she has been recognized by the Hampton University Alumni Association, named as one of 50 Black changemakers shaping tech on AfroTech’s Future 50 List, and was presented with a Sisters With Superpowers award by Rolling Out UrbanStyle Weekly. Parker was named HR Professional of the Year by the New Mexico Society of Human Resource Management and she was presented with a Special Recognition Award at the Women of Color STEM Awards. In addition, Parker was recognized by Girls, Inc. as a Champion for Girls Honoree and she was recognized by One Hundred Black Men of New York with a Corporate Leadership Award and New York Moves magazine as a Lift as You Rise Awardee.

Photography

A professional photographer will capture the moment when graduates receive their Stillman College diploma cover. Ordering instructions for photos of the ceremonies will be emailed to the graduate by late May.

Stillman College will honor its Golden Class – the Class of 1975 – for its 50-year reunion. Those present for the ceremony will be: Pamela Bell, Dennis Davis, O’Neil Davis Carpenter, Linda Faye Suttle Harris, Clara Jackson, Joe Springer, Katie Stanciel, Charles Storey, and Larry Williams.

Academic program banners are carried by the graduate with the highest GPA in that program.
