Birmingham Native to be installed as Miss Stillman College 2012-2013
- 9-20-2012

Stillman College senior Jessica Nathan will be installed as Miss Stillman College 2012-2013 during the Miss Stillman Installation Ceremony on Thursday, September 20th, at 7 p.m., in the Warner Presentation Room of the Wynn Fine Arts Center.
Through her platform, “Because You’re Worth It: Discovering Your Inner Self,” Nathan hopes to help increase self-esteem among females on Stillman’s campus and in the community. She credits her life experiences and her major in psychology for helping her to better understand and address issues related to her platform.
“I have noticed that females do not always show respect for themselves, which allows males to disrespect them. So I am working on an on-campus mentoring program called Regal Ladies, which will allow me to hold monthly meetings to reach out to females between the ages of 11 and 20. Working with the Campus Queen’s Association, I plan to discuss issues such as self-esteem, healthy relationships, and positive body images. Guest speakers will also be invited to address these issues.”
“When I first toured Stillman, I fell in love with the campus and the friendly atmosphere here,” Nathan says. “So I am excited about now being a role model on campus and working with students in various capacities, including mentoring, building school spirit, and increasing school pride. I am also excited about being an ambassador for Stillman.”
Nathan, who is enrolled in Stillman’s Harte Honors College, has extensive leadership experience. She currently serves as President of the Epsilon Eta Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; as Vice President of the Psychology Club; and as a Student Orientation Leader. She is a former Secretary of the Christian Student Association, and a former National American MISS Pageant State Finalist.
Nathan plans to attend graduate school to secure a Ph.D. and work in college administration. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a Presidential Scholar. She is also on the Dean’s List and is a recipient of numerous awards and honors, including The Links, Incorporated Birmingham Chapter Scholarship; the Highest Freshman GPA Award; and the Highest Sophomore GPA Award.
