The Department provides an educational experience that is characterized by personal attention and guidance to students; a commitment to continuous curriculum development; utilization of technology to enhance instructional delivery; and emphasis on extracurricular activities that promote student leadership and an understanding of contemporary business practices. In short, it is the primary goal of this unit to provide a high quality education for the development of future business leaders who are uniquely qualified to manage in a technologically advanced global marketplace.
The Department of Business is accredited by The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education is a specialized accrediting body that promotes and recognizes excellence in business education in colleges and universities at the baccalaureate and graduate levels, both in the United States and internationally. The IACBE was founded in 1997, in response to the expressed needs of Presidents, Chief Academic Officers, and heads of academic business units, who wanted an accreditation process that was mission-based and outcomes-driven. At that time, the majority of the four-year colleges and universities in the United States with business programs were not recognized by the existing business accrediting bodies. Similarly, hundreds of internationally-based institutions were unable to obtain specialized accreditation. The IACBE specializes in the accreditation needs of colleges and universities whose primary purpose is excellence in teaching and learning. Accordingly, the IACBE makes available quality, specialized accreditation to the business and business-related programs of those hundreds of institutions throughout the world. The IACBE’s innovative approach to specialized accreditation is described in this publication. (download the most recent Annual Outcomes Report)
