To prepare a nurse generalist for a career in nursing practice who can exercise leadership in the prevention of illness and the promotion of health by providing for the technologically advanced healthcare needs of persons in a global society

RN-BS Program

Nursing is a profession that combines concepts from the sciences and liberal arts into an applied science and a creative art, which focuses on health needs. The science of nursing is an organized body of knowledge derived through scientific research and theory development. The Nursing Program prepares individuals as general professional practitioners in nursing. The nurse generalist exercises nursing leadership in the prevention of illness and the promotion of health by providing for the technologically advanced healthcare needs of persons in a global society. The fulfillment of all curricular requirements for the nursing program leads to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The Generic BS Nursing program closed on May 12, 2012. The RN-BS program continues to operate. Opportunities are available for Registered Nurses who are diploma and Associate Degree graduates.

Accreditation Status

The RN-BS Nursing Program at Stillman College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Director

Dr. Linda S. Forte’ is a Aliceville, Alabama native, whose professional career began in 1978, when she graduated from Nursing School at Mississippi University for Women. Upon completing the Family Nurse Practitioner tract and receiving the master’s degree in nursing in 1989, she worked briefly for the Alabama Department of Public Health as a Family Nurse Practitioner, providing women, infants and children’s health for Pickens, Greene, Bibb and Tuscaloosa Counties.  She earned the Doctorate of Science in Nursing in 1997 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).  She has been at Stillman since September 2005.
