SGA President 2010-2011: Mr. Jeremy Thompson
- 9-27-2010

Stillman senior, Jeremy Thompson, will serve as the Student Government Association (SGA) president for the 2010-2011 academic year. The SGA Installation Ceremony officially welcomed the new president and his cabinet on Thursday, September 23, at 11:00 a.m. in Birthright Auditorium.
Thompson is a native of Louisville, Miss., majoring in music with a concentration in trumpet performance. Thompson has been involved in SGA since his arrival at Stillman. Last year, he served as executive vice-president for the group. He attributed former SGA presidents for sparking his interest in serving as president.
“They were able to accomplish so much for the student body, and they positively impacted the entire Stillman College community,” said Thompson. Thompson also expressed wanting to serve as a “true link between students and administrators” and to “show students that the Stillman experience is a personalized experience made with each student in mind.”
When asked what he is most excited about in his new role, he responded, “I am most excited about being able to work for my peers, helping them develop and promote their ideas. We as students have so many great ideas, but so often we do not know how to articulate what it is that we actually want. When they bring those ideas forward and we begin to brainstorm, it is an exciting process. Seeing the idea move on to reality is even better.”
Thompson highlighted working with the freshman class as one of the most enjoyable aspects of his new role. “They have so many great, fresh ideas and are so eager to learn and get involved,” he said.
“Overall this is an excellent experience. I have learned so much from so many people in this short period of time, and I am enjoying every second of it,” said Thompson.
