It is officially the holiday season and for the last two months, the Stillman College Choir has been rigorously preparing for their annual Christmas Candlelight Concert. The concert will be held on Sunday, December 11 at 6 p.m. in Birthright Auditorium and will consist of 20 selections between both the Stillman College Choir and the Stillman College Wind Ensemble.

“ We’re excited about the concert. The audience can expect a lot of jazzy Christmas songs this year,” said soprano and senior vocal performance major Anna Moore. “We just want to create a home-like setting just to put everyone in the mood for the holidays this season.”

Selections such as “What Sweeter Music”, “Carol of the Bells” and the “Christmas Song” will be performed by both the choir and the wind ensemble. Robert Nickerson, Assistant Band Director, will also accompany the choir in a special selection.

Alto and junior elementary education major By-Faith Fuqua believes this concert will be a memorable one. “It’s going to be a bittersweet performance because a lot of our leaders in the choir are graduating seniors. So this unfortunately will be their last concert with us.”

“Every year is different because every choir is different. The students bring their own personalities within the Choir and make it their own. So every concert is always different,” said Dr. Phillip Westgate, Associate Professor and Director of the  Choir.

The concert will be held at 6 p.m. in Birthright Auditorium on the Stillman College campus. Seating will begin at 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under. For more concert information, contact the Office of Marketing and Public Relations at (205) 247-8018.
