  • 7-5-2011

The Stillman College Alumni Leadership Conference will be held on July 15-16, 2011, in the Cordell Wynn Humanities and Fine Arts Center on the College’s campus.

The National Alumni Association of Stillman College’s board meeting is scheduled for Friday, July 15, at 7 p.m., in room 143A of the Wynn Center. Following the board meeting, registration and a reception will be held for the Stillman College Alumni Leadership Conference participants in the Wynn Center’s Art Gallery.  The following morning, Saturday, July 16, there will be a mix and mingle with snacks beginning at 8 a.m. in the Wynn Center presentation room. Participants will hear from a keynote speaker and attend breakout sessions, with the event tentatively concluding at 2 p.m.

The Office of Alumni Affairs and the National Alumni Association of Stillman College (NAASC) are organizing the event. Renwick Jones, Assistant Vice President of Alumni Affairs, said, “The goal of the conference is to get our alumni leaders engaged in the important processes at Stillman which include fundraising, student recruitment, mentoring and networking.”

Gregory Eubanks, Associate Vice President for Development at the College and Stillman alum, said, “I am quite excited about this event! Our alumni are truly the linchpin in fundraising and advocacy efforts, as well as student recruitment. Wherever we as alumni go, we can serve as ambassadors, sharing the news about all of the amazing happenings and young people about Stillman.”

NAASC President elect, Jean A. Wilson-Sykes, class of 1990, said she hopes that the Conference “reconnects and builds the communication between the NAASC, Alumni Affairs, and the College and promotes the understanding that timely and accurate information is essential to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.”

Current NAASC President, Willie M. Wells, said “The Leadership Conference will serve as an excellent vehicle for the sharing of ideas that will move the NAASC to another level of excellence, reiterate the role of the Association and its relationship to the College, reinforce the need for a strategically operated Association with a vision for success and bring into focus the importance of the team approach to meeting goals and objectives.”

“This initial event will teach us a lot. I envision working with the NAASC and the incoming president and that this will become an annual event,” said Jones.
