Atlanta, GA— After an impressive showing at the 2010 Morehouse College Cross Country Invitational, Clark Atlanta’s Brittany Robinson and Stillman’s Chestina Anderson have been named the SIAC Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week. Robinson, who is being honored for the fourth time in as many weeks, is the top women’s runner in the east division while Anderson is the top women’s runner in the west division for the second consecutive week. For the men, Morehouse’s Michael Vinson is the top runner in the east division with Lyndon Walker of Miles College taking the top honor in the west division.
Robinson continues to build on an already impressive freshman campaign, running a time of 21:20.77 in the 5K at the Morehouse Invitational. Her time was good enough to finish third in a field that included several Division I athletes. Robinson helped lead the Clark Atlanta women to a first place finish in the non-Division I category, second overall, while also finishing with the top women’s team time in the east for the third consecutive week. The Lady Panthers posted a total time of 1:56.76 and an average time of 23:16.76.
At the same event, Anderson ran a time of 21:03.11 in the 5K to finish in second place overall, just ahead of Brittany Robinson. Her efforts helped Stillman finish with the top women’s team time in the west with a total time of 2:10:52.96 and an average time of 26:10.60. Anderson also ran the SIAC’s top women’s time for the second consecutive week.
Vinson ran a time of 29:16.62 in the 8K, running the second-best men’s individual time at the Morehouse Invitational. Vinson and his Morehouse teammates finished in first place at the event and also ran the top men’s team time in the east, running a total time of 2:28:28.63 and an average time of 29:41.73.
Walker ran a time of 34:04.05 in the 8K, finishing in the top 25 at this weekend’s Morehouse Invitational. He helped Miles finish with the top men’s team time in the west with a total time 3:10:31.99 and an average time of 38:06.40.
