WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – BB&T Corporation (NYSE:BBT) announced today it will offer free education to area students on the importance of financial literacy and the benefits of creating win-win banking relationships during “BB&T” days at Stillman College, Nov. 12-13.

The Winston-Salem, N.C.-based company has scheduled the BB&T Bank Bus, a 40-foot mobile financial classroom, for the Stillman College area as part of its grassroots effort to reach people where they live and work. The bus is equipped with the latest in satellite and computer technology and staffed by retail and business bankers.

The bus will be located on Greek Row from 10-2 on November 12 and 13.

“It is our mission to make the communities in which we live better places to live. One way we do that is by bringing financial education to where our clients live work and play,” said BB&T Community Development Specialist Heidi Schoonover. “We want to simplify the banking process and make access to our services as convenient as possible. We invite area students to come learn more about managing finances online and planning for your financial future. We can also help them access their free annual credit report.”

The Bank Bus provides Internet access to homeownership and credit counseling programs, and free annual credit reports. Also provided is comprehensive financial services information, including a Web-based Credit 101 course. BB&T relationship bankers will be available to help with checking and savings accounts, other financial services and provide access to computer-based Money Smart Financial Education in English and Spanish.
