Cleve Webber Art Exhibit Opens Nov. 3
Professor Leonard Dawson, Director of the Stillman Art Galleries will be exhibiting the works of Cleve Webber in the Sheppard Art Gallery beginning Thursday, November 3rd through Wednesday, November 30, 2011.
Webber will present a lecture presentation on his works in room 143 of the Wynn Fine Arts Center at 5 p.m. on November 3rd. Following the lecture, guests are welcome to attend the Opening of the Webber Art Exhibit in the Sheppard Art Gallery which is located in the rear of the Sheppard Library. The exhibit will be open to the public between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Individuals wishing to view the exhibit after hours must contact Leonard Dawson at firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment. Cleve Webber is an assistant professor at Alabama State University. Academic qualifications includes a BFA degree in Fine Arts from Jamaica School of Visual Arts in Kingston Jamaica West Indies, and the MA and MFA degrees from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
He is a member of several professional organizations such as the American Watercolor Society, College Arts Association, the International Visual Arts Association and the National Alliance of Artists from the Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Webber has been exhibiting his works at various solo and group exhibitions internationally since 1973 and has received numerous major awards and commissions in recognition of his work including a fellowship from the Organization of American States. Distinguished collections include, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, USA, Bob and Rita Marley, Jamaica West Indies, and Dr. Winston Davidson former Minister of Health, Jamaica West Indies. His work is inspired mainly from the self-conscious exploration of the human figure.
