Hundreds of Prospective Students Expected at Tigerfest on April 6th
The Stillman College Office of Admissions and volunteer student tour guides anticipate a great turnout for Tigerfest on Saturday, April 6th, on the College campus. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. in Birthright Alumni Hall. Tigerfest activities, which are designed to give prospective students a taste of the Stillman experience, will begin at noon. Highlights will include campus tours, scholarship and financial aid sessions, games, band and choir auditions, a free lunch, and a football game. The annual event, which began in 2008, will also give visitors an opportunity to meet campus leaders, and learn about a variety of student organizations, clubs and activities. At 2 p.m., participants will head to the Stillman Stadium to enjoy a football game, which is the final event scheduled for the day.
Last year, Tigerfest attracted over five hundred high school students from diverse cities, including Memphis, TN., New Orleans, LA. Atlanta, GA., Mobile, AL., and Birmingham, AL. Admission to all activities is free, but advance registration is required. Students may register by texting, “Tiger Fest and Your Name” to 99000, or calling the Office of Admissions at 205-366-8817.
Admissions Director Victoria Boman states, "This is a great opportunity for students to see all that Stillman has to offer and to get a true understanding of our mantra—doing the best, being the best, and having the best."
“We have groups coming on buses from Columbus, Mississippi; Memphis, Tennessee; Atlanta, Georgia; and Montgomery, Alabama. I encourage church groups, community organizations, afterschool programs, workforce development programs and others to consider bringing a group of students to Tigerfest,” Boman says.
In addition to serving as a recruiting tool for prospective high school students, Tigerfest is also open to community college students and transfer students who would like to visit the Stillman campus. For more information, call 205-366-8817.
