STILLMAN’S MCKINNIS AND PHILLIPS RECEIVE HONORS

(TUSCALOOSA, AL.) —  The Stillman College volleyball team learned of its  # 2 seed yesterday morning as they get set for the SIAC volleyball tournament today in Frankfort, KY.

They also learned of post-season honors for Sophomore Jamila Mckinnis and Head Coach Pam Phillips. Mckinnis was named MVP of the Conference, All-academic team in Biology with a 4.00,
and Phillips, in her second year with Stillman received Coach of The Year honors.

Stillman finished the year second in the SIAC at 18-14 overall and 12-4 in conference play.
Mckinnis ranks second in hitting percentage at .393 % and is in the top 10 in the SIAC in kills per set with 240 kills averaging 2.50 a set.

Mckinnis looks to carry her team deep in this year’s tournament and nothing short of a title will do for Coach Phillips. “
This is what we worked for all year long. The personal achievements are great, but an SIAC championship is what we want”.

Along with Mckinnis and Phillips, Christine Mallory and Bathsheba Wariso were named to the SIAC All-Academic team. They both were Biology majors and have a 4.00 GPA.
 Stillman will start match play Tuesday 11-11-09 at 2pm and will take on the winner of #3 seed Tuskegee and #4 seed Claflin.
