Softball Team Routs Concordia

TUSCALOOSA | Stillman and Concordia faced off in a doubleheader, with Stillman winning both games by mercy rule in five innings.

In the first game, Stillman routed Concordia. Danielle Hewett went 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and a run scored.

Hewett (5-10) also was the winning pitcher. She threw a complete game and allowed no runs on three hits and two walks, while striking out three.

Also for Stillman, Nish Nelson went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, two steals and three runs scored, Adrina Sconiers went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Anjelica Nixon and Gabby Quarles each had a double and an RBI.

The losing pitcher was Jacques Roller, who threw a complete game while striking out one and allowing three earned runs, 12 hits, and four walks.

In the second game, Stillman dominated again, with Quarles going 2-for-2 with five RBIs, a three-run home run, and a two-RBI double. Nixon was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two steals, and three runs scored. Hewett was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Nelson was 1-for-3 with two steals and three runs scored.

April Ball (1-0) got the win, throwing a complete game and striking out six and walking one while allowing two runs (one earned) and three hits.

Roller again got the loss, pitching all five innings with 12 earned runs, 11 hits allowed, no strikeouts and five walks.

Stillman (6-10) will have a weekend of conference play, hosting SIAC opponent Kentucky State to play in a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and another doubleheader Sunday at noon.
