Stillman Grad Chinai Hardy to Act in World Debut of the Nacirema Society Requests

Stillman Alumnus, Chinai Hardy, who served as Miss Stillman 2001-2002, will be acting in the world debut of renowned playwright Pearl Cleage’s comedy The Nacirema Society Requests the Honor of Your Presence at a Celebration of Their First One Hundred Years.
Hardy is a 2002 Stillman graduate with a list of academic and social credits to her name such as: 2002 Honors Graduate of Stillman College, 2001 Stillman College Student of the Year, 2001-2002 Miss Stillman College, 2001-2002 Miss National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame, 2001 Miss Alpha Phi Alpha for Alabama, 1st Runner-up Miss Alpha Phi Alpha – Southern Region, 2001 George and Mattie Lavender Scholarship Recipient.
Hardy is also making her mark in theatrical circles, having appeared in such productions as Secrets of a Soccer Mom (Theatre in the Square); A Lesson Before Dying (Theatrical Outfit); For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf (IKAM Productions); In Darfur (Horizon Theatre); and In the Red and Brown Water (Suzi Bass Award for Best Ensemble/World Premier).
The Nacirema Society Requests…production will feature TV, film and Broadway star, Jasmine Guy, in the role of Janet Logan, a nosey reporter from the New York Times sent to Montgomery to cover the Nacirema Society’s 100th Anniversary and Tony Award winner Trazana Beverley.
The Alabama Shakespeare Festival will be presenting The Nacirema Society Requests … from September 24 – October 3, 2010 to kick off their 25th year anniversary. The play will then move to the Alliance and run from October 20 to November 14, 2010.
