Chinai Hardy

Stillman Alumnus, Chinai Hardy, who served as Miss Stillman 2001-2002, will be acting in the world debut of renowned playwright Pearl Cleage’s comedy The Nacirema Society Requests the Honor of Your Presence at a Celebration of Their First One Hundred Years.

Hardy is a 2002 Stillman graduate with a list of academic and social credits to her name such as: 2002 Honors Graduate of Stillman College, 2001 Stillman College Student of the Year, 2001-2002 Miss Stillman College, 2001-2002 Miss National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame, 2001 Miss Alpha Phi Alpha for Alabama, 1st Runner-up Miss Alpha Phi Alpha – Southern Region, 2001 George and Mattie Lavender Scholarship Recipient.

Hardy is also making her mark in theatrical circles, having appeared in such productions as Secrets of a Soccer Mom (Theatre in the Square); A Lesson Before Dying (Theatrical Outfit); For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf (IKAM Productions); In Darfur (Horizon Theatre); and In the Red and Brown Water (Suzi Bass Award for Best Ensemble/World Premier).

The Nacirema Society Requests…production will feature TV, film and Broadway star, Jasmine Guy, in the role of Janet Logan, a nosey reporter from the New York Times sent to Montgomery to cover the Nacirema Society’s 100^th Anniversary and Tony Award winner Trazana Beverley. 

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival will be presenting The Nacirema Society Requests … from September 24 – October 3, 2010 to kick off their 25^th year anniversary.  The play will then move to the Alliance and run from October 20 to November 14, 2010.
