Stillman Player Earns SIAC Volleyball Weekly Honors

Atlanta, GA—Stillman junior Jamila McKinnis has been named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Volleyball Player of the Week after her impressive performance against FCS Division I Alabama State and at the SIAC Western Division Cluster. Kentucky State teammates Brittany Stewart and Nikki Douglas earned Setter of the Week and Defender of the Week respectively.
In four matches, McKinnis had a hitting percentage of .424, 52 kills, including 15 against Kentucky State, 10 blocks and seven service aces. The Mobile, AL native recorded her fourth and fifth triple-double of the season with 17 kills, 20 assists, and 13 digs against Alabama State and 10 kills, 13 assists, and 13 digs against LeMoyne-Owen. She also recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 assists. She helped lead the Lady Tigers to a 2-2 record with wins over Lane and LeMoyne-Owen.
Stewart, a junior from East St. Louis, IL, had 166 assists in five matches, averaging 11.06 assists per set. She also had 22 digs, 16 kills, six aces, and three block assists. She helped lead the Thorobrettes to a 5-0 record this past week without losing a set.
Douglas, a 5’4 senior, posted 63 digs in five matches, averaging 4.2 per set. The Owensboro, KY native also contributed eight service aces and had just two errors on 58 serve attempts, helping Kentucky State to a 5-0 record for the week.
