Stillman Student Support Service Honors Student Scholars

Stillman College Student Support Services held its annual Honors and Awards Reception on April 12. Themed “Honoring Excellence in a Community of Scholars,” the program highlighted the accomplishments of the students who participated in the program throughout the academic year. Rev. James Dumas, Director of Media, provided words of inspiration for the gathering.
Presidential Scholars, Anthony Heaven and Erica Watts, were recognized during the reception. Additionally, the following Dean’s List students received awards: Adrian Bryant, Monee Casimir, Maria Daniels, Miannica Lowe, Mikitzi McClain, Jasmine McQueen, Audrail Pharris, Carrieona Robinson, Jeremy Thompson, and LaQuasha Warren.
Honor Roll students, Khadijah Abdul-Rahman, Thaddeus Collins, Ashley Cruchter, Krystal Doss, Eurise Elkins, Alexandria Francisco, Harneal Goodlow, Taikai Harris, Jasmon Hazley, Aiechia Hylton, Brandon Johnson, Gabrielle Jones, Shantrice Jones, Alicia Lewis, Antonio Lewis, Jasmine McCurdy, Jessica Miller, Victoria Morris, Jemila Morson, Kendra Royston, Nicole Thomas, Algie Williams, and Christopher Williams, also received a token for their academic accomplishments.
“Student Support Services provides low income, first generation, and disabled college students with a variety of academic support services enabling them to persist and graduate from Stillman,” said Dr. Bettye J. Mullen, Director. “The program provides a diversity of academic support services in the way of study skills assistance to achieve academic success, peer and professional tutoring to master course content, academic and personal counseling to build confidence, degree planning and course selection for student graduation, and information to facilitate entrance to graduate and professional school.”
Also during the reception, mentors and their respective mentees were recognized for their participation in the Student Support Services Mentoring Program. The goal of the mentoring program is to establish a trusting relationship that facilitates academic and personal growth.
