  • 8-23-2010

Stillman will host tryouts for The African Negro Children’s Ensemble on Saturday, August 28, at 9:00 a.m. in the Wynn Fine Arts Center on the Stillman campus.

This community-based arts initiative for children was created by the Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) music ministry. The performance group will be comprised of approximately 125 artistically driven young people between the ages of 12-15 to include a 100- voice chorale, a 15 member instrumental group and a ten person audio/visual and media support staff.

The artistic director for the Ensemble, Dr. Gregory A. McPherson, is a world-renowned composer, conductor, producer and artistic leader. McPherson serves as assistant director of bands at Stillman.

The African Negro Children’s Ensemble will engage in the global artistic principles of the entire African Cultural Diaspora, which encourages inclusion regardless of race, creed, religion or gender.
