Description

The Director of Career Services and Workforce Partnerships provides leadership and strategic direction for career planning and professional development programs at Stillman College. This position oversees a comprehensive career services operation that supports students' career readiness, internships, graduate school preparation, and post-graduate employment outcomes. The Director collaborates with faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners to create a robust network of opportunities aligned with the students’ academic experiences and career goals. Strategically, the opportunities will also align with the state and the region’s workforce needs.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a strategic plan for career services aligned with institutional priorities in student success, recruitment, retention, and alumni engagement.
  • Provide one-on-one and group career counseling on topics such as resume and cover letter writing, job and internship search strategies, interview preparation, and career exploration.
  • Manage the planning and execution of career fairs, employer panels, graduate school fairs, and career readiness workshops.
  • Cultivate relationships with employers, graduate schools, and alumni to expand internship and job placement opportunities.
  • Supervise and train staff, interns, and student workers within the Career Services office.
  • Oversee the implementation and use of career services technologies (e.g., Handshake or equivalent platforms) and maintain relevant data on student engagement and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, the Office of Institutional Advancement, and the Office of Alumni Affairs to integrate career services into curricular and co-curricular experiences.
  • Collect and report data related to student employment, internships, graduate school admissions, and satisfaction with services for institutional and accreditation reporting.
  • Lead initiatives that support first-generation students, student-athletes, and underrepresented populations in career development.
  • Represent the College at regional and national career development and employer relations conferences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s required in Counseling, Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in career services, student affairs, or a related area.
  • Demonstrated experience developing employer partnerships and student programming.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with career assessments, career services software (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity), and student learning outcomes assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Counseling, Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in an HBCU or small liberal arts college setting.
  • Knowledge of NACE competencies and best practices in career development.
  • Supervisory experience and proven ability to lead a small team in a high-impact office.
