Endowed Scholarships Opportunities

Stillman offers the following endowed scholarships to selected (current) students who fall into the scholarship eligibility pool. They are awarded based on donor-specific criteria and are awarded during the annual Honors and Awards Day Program. Students can apply from November 1 - February 1.

Scholarship Scholarship Description
Francis D. Stillman Leadership Scholarship
The Francis D. Stillman Leadership Scholarship was established in 2004 in memory of Dr. Charles Allen Stillman. The scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates leadership in service to the community.
Eligah Clark and Irene Pruitt Little Endowed Scholarship
The Eligah Clark and Irene Pruitt Little Endowed Scholarship was established by Eligah Clark, a 1963 graduate of Stillman, and Ms. Irene Pruitt Little, a 1967 graduate of Stillman, to assist students with a minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average with having a well-rounded experience at Stillman.
Sarah S. Davis Endowed Scholarship
The Sarah S. Davis Endowed Scholarship was established in 1996 by the Stillman Board of Trustees in honor and appreciation of Mrs. Sarah Striggles- Davis’ contributions to the good of the College. Awards are made to female students who show excellence in scholarship and commitment to service.
Edwards Science Endowed Scholarship
The Edwards Science Endowed Scholarship was established in October 2000 by former trustee, Dr. Horace B. Edwards and Mrs. Fran Edwards of Topeka, Kansas, and is awarded as a merit or needs-based scholarship.
George W. Dockery, Jr. Endowed Scholarship
The George W. Dockery, Jr. Endowed Scholarship was established in 1996 by George W. Dockery, Jr., president of OK Tire Stores in Tuscaloosa. The scholarship is awarded as a merit or needs-based scholarship, to a student from Tuscaloosa, AL.
Louise McCoy Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Louise McCoy Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 1996. The late Mrs. McCoy, a Stillman alumna, left funds in her will to benefit the College. Awards are made to rising juniors or seniors who have shown great improvement during their matriculation at Stillman.
Terrell and Unareed Harris Endowed Scholarship
The Terrell and Unareed Harris Endowed Scholarship was established in 1992 by Dr. Trudier Harris (class of 1969) and her brother, Peter Harris, in memory of their parents. The award is made to a student majoring in English and Math, who demonstrates leadership on and off the campus.
William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship
The William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship was established in 2002 for students in the Harte Honors College who intend to permanently reside in the United States after completion of their studies. William Randolph Hearst was an American businessman, newspaper publisher, and politician known for developing the nation’s largest newspaper chain and media company, Hearst Communications. He is best known for publishing the largest chain of American newspapers in the late 19th century, and particularly for sensational “yellow journalism.”
Helene W. Hibbard Endowed Scholarship
The Helene W. Hibbard Endowed Scholarship was established in 1983 by Gulf States Paper Corporation in honor of Mrs. Helene Warner-Hibbard, a longtime Stillman Trustee and former chairperson of the Board of Trustees. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote the education of deserving students who are enrolled full time at Stillman College. 

Dr. Herman D. Hughes Endowed Scholarship
The Dr. Herman D. Hughes Endowed Scholarship was established in 2007 in honor of Dr. Herman D. Hughes, a Eutaw, AL native and 1959 graduate of Stillman College. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in Mathematics or one of the Physical Sciences, with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
George A. LeMaistre Endowed Scholarship
The George A. LeMaistre Endowed Scholarship was established in 1983 and is jointly awarded by the First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa and the College. Eligible students must show evidence of good citizenship, must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, must be a rising junior or senior Business or Pre- Law major. Student must be from a Christian background, and show evidence of leadership and commitment to service.
W. James and Willa G. Lowe Endowed Scholarship
The W. James and Willa G. Lowe Endowed Scholarship was established in 1998 by the Lowe family, which is strongly committed to education, civic responsibility, and community service. In addition to junior classification, the Lowe scholarship recipient must have a minimum 3.0 grade- point average, a record that demonstrates good citizenship, a strong commitment to service, and must be a native of Alabama, preferably West Alabama. 

Fred L. May Endowed Scholarship
The Fred L. May Endowed Scholarship was established to award deserving students in the Harte Honors College.
Morrow Family Endowed Scholarship
The Morrow Family Endowed Scholarship was established in 2011 by Mr. David Morrow and family in honor of Dr. Eddie B. Thomas, past Vice president of External Affairs at Stillman and a long- time educator in the Tuscaloosa City School System. The scholarship is awarded to a Business Administration major who demonstrates outstanding leadership and character with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Reese Phifer Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Reese Phifer Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was endowed by the Phifer Wire Company in 1988. It is awarded to an outstanding student from Tuscaloosa County. 

Armond Thomas, Sr. Endowed Scholarship
The Armond Thomas, Sr. Endowed Scholarship was established by the Thomas family in memory of Mr. Armond Thomas, Sr., a strong supporter of Stillman College. It is the desire that of Dr. and Mrs. Eddie B. Thomas and his family that the scholarship be awarded to students who are majoring in elementary education and have completed the freshman year with an overall 2.5 or above grade point average. The students must exemplify good character and be enrolled full-time at Stillman. 

The Tuscaloosa Chapter of the Links, Incorporated Endowed Scholarship
The Tuscaloosa Chapter of the Links, Incorporated Endowed Scholarship was established in 2007 and is awarded as a merit or needs-based scholarship.
Wayne Presbyterian Church Endowed Scholarship
The Wayne Presbyterian Church Endowed Scholarship was established in November 2001 by the Wayne Presbyterian Church located in Wayne, Pennsylvania and is awarded as a merit or needs-based scholarship.
Betty and Coy Williamson Endowed Scholarship
The Betty and Coy Williamson Endowed Scholarship was established in 2011 and is to be awarded to a Business major. Ms. Williamson, a long-serving member of the Stillman Board of Trustees and past Board Chair, and Mr. Williamson are Stillman alumni.
Cordell and Marie Wynn Fellowship
The Cordell and Marie Wynn Fellowship was established in 1986 in honor of the fourth President and First Lady. Wynn scholars must possess good character and leadership traits and evidence scholarship and servant hood. Awards will be part of a total financial-aid package based on need.
General W. J. Williams Leadership Endowed Scholarship
The General W. J. Williams Leadership Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015. The scholarship is awarded to students attending Stillman College from Hale, Green, or Sumter Counties in Alabama. The intent of the scholarship is to make recipients aware that God has put people in their lives that care about them, and want to assist them in reaching their goals (and pursuing their purpose). Students must be Business Majors who demonstrate moral character and leadership traits, with strong community involvement qualities.
Dr. Willie Clyde Jones Endowed Scholarship
The Dr. Willie Clyde Jones Endowed Scholarship was established in 2016, in memory of Dr. Willie Clyde Jones (former Dean of Students at Stillman College). The scholarship is awarded to a deserving Theology and Religious Studies student who demonstrates strong leadership qualities and commitment to service, with a 3.0 GPA.
Eugene and Amanda Webb Scholarship
The Eugene and Amanda Webb Scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Webb, a former trustee, and successful entrepreneur in New York City with interests in real estate, banking and investments, and his wife. The scholarship is to be presented to two top business majors at the College.
Andrew Wade Family Endowed Scholarship
The Andrew Wade Family Endowed Scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Andrew Cox Wade Sr. (native of Reform, AL and former member of the Stillman College Board of Trustees). The scholarship was founded to assist natives of Pickens County, Alabama with the cost of tuition, fees, and books while attending Stillman College.
Bessie German Endowed Scholarship
The Bessie German Endowed Scholarship was established in December 2001 by Elizabeth Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It is given in honor of the late Mrs. Bessie J. German, former church musician and former employee of Stillman College.
Greentrack Endowed Scholarship Honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Greentrack Endowed Scholarship Honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. was begun in 1988. The scholarship recipient must be a graduate of a Greene County High School.
Hope Foundation for a Better Tomorrow
The Hope Foundation for a Better Tomorrow is awarded to a student that is enrolled full time at the College with a minimum 2.5 cumulative Grade Point Average that is Pell Grant eligible with a remaining balance on his/her account. Open to all majors. Submit this form by email to lbostic@stillman.edu.
Toice and Oreva Davis Legacy Endowment
The Toice and Oreva Davis Legacy Endowment was established to assist students with the cost of tuition and fees and books. Awards are made to students that have unmet financial needs not provided from other sources. Recipients must maintain a minimum of 2.5 Grade Point Average or better and remain in good academic standing in the College of their major if they are continuing candidates.
Mildred Davis-Brown Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Mildred Davis-Brown Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2019 by Mr. Nathaniel Davis, in memory of his sister Mildred Davis-Brown. The scholarship is to be awarded to a student graduating from a Greene County High School, with a 2.5 or higher GPA and have a financial need.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Advocates for Black Projects Endowed Scholarship
The Alpha Kappa Alpha Advocates for Black Projects Endowed Scholarship was established by an initiative if the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc. in 2006 as a means to advocate HBCU institutions.
Eta Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Endowed Scholarship
The Eta Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Endowed Scholarship was endowed in February 2018, this scholarship is awarded to a full-time degree-seeking student enrolled at Stillman College. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, must demonstrate a financial need (verified by the Office of Financial Aid, and exhibit strong leadership skills through participation in extracurricular and civic/service activities.
Perry D. Peoples, Jr. Business Endowed Scholarship
The Perry D. Peoples, Jr. Business Endowed Scholarship was established to assist the students with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, evidence of good citizenship, leadership and commitment to service, interested in majoring in business and/or pursuing pre-law curriculum, and a rising junior or senior. Mr. Peoples was an alumnus of Stillman.
Dennis Driver-Charles Storey Leadership Endowed Scholarship
The Dennis Driver-Charles Storey Leadership Endowed Scholarship was established to assist students majoring in Business. Students must possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must write an essay detailing how they intend to use their future success to benefit society.
Elizabeth Malone-Strickland Endowed Scholarship
The Elizabeth Malone-Strickland Endowed Scholarship was established by Stillman Alum, and President Emeritus of Wiley College, Dr. Haywood Strickland, in memory of his mother, Elizabeth Long-Strickland. His mother loved music and was very religious. Elizabeth became a widow, raising four children alone. The scholarship is awarded to a single mother, who is passionate about family and her education (with a 3.0 GPA).
Tuscaloosa Reunion Club Endowed Scholarship
The Tuscaloosa Reunion Club Endowed Scholarship is awarded to African American students who are natives of Tuscaloosa and show financial need. The award will be used to assist with the cost of tuition. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and display strong leadership qualities and character.
Alabama Power Foundation Endowed Scholarship
The Alabama Power Foundation Endowed Scholarship was established at Stillman in 1989. It promotes the education of deserving, full-time students concentrating their studies in a business-related area.
George Floyd Endowed Scholarship
The George Floyd Endowed Scholarship is awarded to students majoring in Criminal Justice to become the voice of the next generation of those who will continue to advocate for equal justice, equal opportunity, and equal access to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Senator Michael Figures Endowed Scholarship
The Senator Michael Figures Endowed Scholarship was Established in 2019-2020 by Senator Vivian Davis-Figures, Judge John England, and Friends in memory of the late Senator Michael Figures, Stillman Alum and politician who served in the Alabama Senate from the 33rd district from 1978 until his death in 1996. He served as the body's president pro tempor. He was involved in the investigation of the murder of Michael Donald, who was lynched by white supremacists in 1981.
Thomas, Brown, and Thomas Endowed Scholarship
The Thomas, Brown, and Thomas Endowed Scholarship was Established by and named for Bishop Marvin Frank Thomas Sr., and Minnie Thomas-Brown, and recently Brother, Kelvin Thomas. Bishop Marvin Thomas Sr. is Bishop in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Cincinnati, OH. Bishop Thomas is a 1977 graduate of Stillman College. The recipient is Deonte Gibson.
Thomas Clinton-Smith Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Thomas Clinton-Smith Memorial Endowed Scholarship for the Arts was established in April 2020 by Trustee Sheila Hann-Smith and The T.S. Police Support League, Inc., in memory of her husband, (Thomas Clinton Smith), an artist and fashion designer. The scholarship will benefit art majors from Green County, AL. Trustee Hann-Smith and her husband moved to Eutaw, AL, from New York when they retired.
