All Fine Arts Scholarships consist of a performance and a personal interview.
Visual Arts applicants can provide a portfolio of three to five pieces of artwork (drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, craft, or design).
Music applicants should be prepared to play scales.
Vocalists should be prepared to sing two songs from memory in contrasting tempo and style. Vocalist may bring an accompanist, use the accompanist provided by the College, or bring CD accompaniment.
Application submissions are open from Nov 1st through April 1st.
To be awarded, students must sign and accept award by deadline, complete FAFSA, pay housing fees by the housing deadline. Students must register for a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester. Students must upload the following to compete for visual art scholarships. 1. A statement (around 200 words), introducing yourself and explaining what a degree in Art or Art Education would mean to you. 2. A paragraph (around 200 words) explaining the importance of art in schools. 3. Images of your 10 best artworks in .jpg format. 4. An unofficial transcript. 5. Professional Headshot. Create a space where you can photograph your artwork without any distracting clutter. A neutral color (white, gray, tan) background is best. Hanging flat work on walls makes this easy, but won't work for sculpture. You can set something up using poster board or even a plain bedsheet in the background. Try to keep your camera parallel to the work- if your camera is at an angle the photo will keystone (look wider on one side than another). Make sure there's no glare on your artwork- don't use a flash, it can cause weird reflections and even change the way the colors look. Lastly, keep the camera still while taking pictures. You can steady your arms by keeping your elbows against your ribcage.
