Job Summary:

The IT Director is responsible for leading and managing the information technology infrastructure, systems, and services at Stillman College. This role involves strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT resources to support the institution’s academic, administrative, and research needs. 


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new Stillman College IT staff employees and students. 
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.



  • Strategic Planning
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the college’s overall goals and objectives.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership and consultants to identify and prioritize IT initiatives that enhance educational experience and administrative efficiency.
  •  Infrastructure Management
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the college’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and storage systems.
    • Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of IT systems, minimizing downtown and optimizing performance.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to support the college’s evolving technological needs.
  • Application and Software Management
    • Collaborate with consultants and others at the discretion of the President in the vendor selection process and in implementing software solutions that enhance academic and administrative functions.
    • Ensure compatibility, security, and usability of software applications across different departments.



  • Information Security
    • Develop and enforce information security policies and practices to safeguard sensitive  data and protect against cybersecurity threats.
    • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and address vulnerabilities.
  • Budget and Resource Management
    • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
    • Collaborate with Vice President of Administration and Finance to negotiate contracts and agreements with technology vendors.
  • User Support and Training
    • Oversee IT support services for faculty, staff, and students, addressing technical issues and providing training as needed.
    • Promote a user-friendly and inclusive IT environment.
  • Emerging Technologies
    • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in higher education IT.
    • Evaluate and recommend new technologies that can enhance the college’s academic and operational capabilities.


Education and Experience:

  • Batchelor’s or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in IT leadership roles within higher education.
  • Strong working knowledge of current educational technology trends, best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships.
