HOUSING AND RESIDENTIAL LIFE

We are very excited about your interest in living in our residence halls. We believe that the on-campus residential experience provides a very positive environment for students to live, study, and develop friendships. Being part of our residential community will enhance your ability to maximize your academic potential.

The residence halls are equipped with study areas, TVs in each lobby, laundry facilities, and refreshment machines. All rooms are single.

Stillman College offers on-campus housing for both male and female students. All three on-campus residence halls have undergone broad renovation over the last year to ensure students have the comfort and amenities necessary to relax and study

PAYMENT OPTIONS

  • Cashier checks or money orders should be made payable to Stillman College and should include name & applicant id number.
  • Room assignments are made on a first come first served basis and are dependent on the date that the reservation fee is paid. 

NOTE: Student must be admitted with a complete application into Stillman College and have met all necessary requirements(Admission Requirements, FAFSA completion, fee payments, etc.) before an assignment can be created. Assignments are subject to change at the discretion of the Director and are not final or complete until the total housing reservation fee has been paid. If you do not pay with a credit card, you may pay with a money order or a cashier’s check. No personal checks will be accepted.

APPLYING FOR HOUSING

  • You will be prompted to pay your housing application fee at the end of the application. You submit your application without payment. However, payment is required to reserve your room.
  • The password to access the application is sent to all accepted students via the email provided on their admission application. If you have not received the

WHEN TO APPLY

As soon as you are admitted to the Stillman College, you can fill out your housing application. The earlier you apply for housing, the more choices you will have when selecting your room. Take a look at room types and meal plans, and to help fill out your application.

The sooner you complete your housing application the better. Complete your application online. The application is password protected. That password will be provided in your admittance letter that you receive from the office of admissions. Fill out the application, then sign your contract and pay a reservation fee which goes toward your first term’s room and board costs. You can update your fall application any time until July 31, and it will not change the date at which you completed your application.

The Campus

Stillman is located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama 52 miles southwest of Birmingham. The City of Tuscaloosa is served by major bus and rail lines; modern  shopping and service facilities are accessible in the immediate vicinity of the campus. Downtown Tuscaloosa is within walking distance. The 105-acre  campus is noted for its stately magnolias and spacious, well-maintained grounds, and graceful buildings.  Stillman College offers on-campus housing for both male and female students. All three on-campus residence halls have undergone broad renovation over the last year to ensure students have the comfort and amenities necessary to relax and study.

 

Joseph D. Roulhac Hall

Joseph D. Roulhac Hall was completed in 2000 and is named for Judge Joseph Roulhac, a Stillman alumnus and the first African American municipal  judge in Akron, Ohio. The residence hall houses 150 female students and contains a computer laboratory and a food court.

Hay Hall

Frances Dearing Hay Hall, named in honor of the College’s second First Lady, was opened for occupancy in the fall of 1966 to house upper class female  students and has been occupied by male students.  Currently ,it is a male residence hall with newly renovated bathrooms in 2021.

Wynn Hall

Marie Lundy Wynn Hall, completed in 1996, is named in honor of the College’s fourth First Lady. In the past, it has housed female Harte Honors  College students, honor students, and upper-class women. Currently, it is a male residence hall.  Dr. Condoleezza Rice went on to become the nation’s sixty-sixth Secretary of State. Currently ,it is a male residence hall with newly renovated bathrooms in 2022.

John Knox Hall

Knox Hall was erected as a student nurses’ residence hall in 1939. Enlarged in 1954 to serve the needs of a growing student body, it provided  administrative space for the General Education Improvement Program and housed the Health Center and male resident students. The building was  completely renovated again in 1994 and rededicated in 1995 as a residence hall for men.

  1. Must be at least a sophomore (30 credit hours or more)
  2. Must not have any disciplinary actions against you
  3. Must have enough financial aid to cover this housing selection (institutional scholarships cannot be used to cover expenses at DLP Tuscaloosa)

The Stillman College cafeteria is located in the Hay Center on campus. “The Caf” serves breakfast, lunch and dinner each day and offers a full salad bar, gluten-free options, a sandwich/wrap station, and a rotating menu of homestyle favorites.
