Job Title:  Payroll Clerk                                                       Department:  Human Resources

Reports to: HR Director                                                        Effective Date: 01/04/2024

Classification: Part-time 

 

Job Summary:This role is responsible for preparing and processing payrolls for employees within the company. Their duties include collecting timesheet data, calculating wages and updating payroll records regular.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
  • Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
  • Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits.

 

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software
  • Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee records.
  • Must be very organized and detail oriented.
  • Accurate communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with employees regarding their issues and concerns.
  • Manages time well and meets deadlines.
  • Prioritizes tasks.
  • Ability to multitask in a stressful environment with specific deadlines.

 

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree preferred or payroll processing experience may substitute.

 

 

Physical Requirements: 

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
