Description

Stillman College invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of English. We seek a dedicated educator committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and student engagement within a liberal arts environment rooted in the historical mission of Stillman College. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate English courses and support student development through effective instruction, mentorship, and active engagement in the classroom.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities• Teach undergraduate English courses as assigned by the department.• Teach composition courses, including freshman composition, advanced composition, research writing, technical writing, and professional writing, as needed.• Deliver instruction using effective pedagogical practices and appropriate instructional technologies.• Foster student engagement through active learning, critical inquiry, and effective written and oral communication.• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.• Utilize the College's Learning Management System (LMS) to support instruction and communication.• Participate in departmental meetings and activities as appropriate.• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.Required Qualifications• Master's degree in English or a closely related field from an accredited institution.• Demonstrated knowledge of composition, rhetoric, and English studies.• Ability to teach undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.• Experience using instructional technology and learning management systems.Preferred Qualifications• Ph.D. in English, African American Literature. Rhetoric and Composition, Professional Writing, Technical Writing, or a closely related field.• College-level teaching experience.• Experience teaching freshman composition, advanced composition, research writing, technical writing, professional writing, or related courses.• Experience teaching American Literature and African American Literature.• Experience mentoring and advising undergraduate students.• Evidence of professional engagement through scholarship, presentations, writing, or related activities.Application InstructionsApplicants should submit:1.
