Direct Report: Director of Athletics

The position of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is attached to the Department of Athletics under the Presidents’ office.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Head Coach with organizing the Basketball program. The position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing students in game strategies.

Essential Duties:

1. Assist Head Basketball Coach with instructing players in rules, regulations and sport technique.
2. Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities and player development directed by the head coach.
3. Assist with determining game strategy.
4. Assist with supervising athletes during practices and competition. In addition to coordinating the academic component related to study hall and progress reports.
5. Maintains and distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to student athletes as directed by the Head Coach.
6. Assist the head coach in the procurement of equipment and supplies.
7. Performs support task such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms and emergency data cards and other related records.
8. Attends staff meetings, clinics and other related professional activities to improve coaching performance.

Required Skills and Abilities:

1. Able to provide on court player instruction
2. Able to stand for long periods of time

Education and Experience:

Batchelor’s degree or higher

2 years or more collegiate, high school or professional coaching experience
