Division Information: 

The position of Sports Information Director/Athletics Media Relations is housed in the Department of Athletics under the supervision of the President’s Office. 

Job Summary: 

The position of Sports Information Director/ Athletics Media Relations serves as the institutional representative to the media and general public for all athletically related activities. This position plans, organizes, coordinates media relations activities, writes and distributes newsletters, brochures and reports to television and radio  stations, newspapers, magazines and responds to various requests for team histories, photos, statistics and  related information.

Duties/Responsibilities:. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Designs, writes and oversees the production of the athletic print material such such as athletics programming and individual sport team media guides 
• Writes and edits individual athletic team media materials including press releases, and records, compiles and release statistical information of individual athletic teams. 
• Responds to request for information from media personnel and the public distributes athletics material such as press kits and disseminates sport information via the appropriate media outlet 
• Organizes and oversees media request and interviews for Head Coaches and Student athletes 
• Organize, execute and moderate athletic related press conferences and press luncheon 
• Oversees athletic live streaming activities and troubleshooting issues, serves as point of contact for livestream and media providers 
• Plans, coordinates and manages special events for teams to include media day and athletic banquets
• Identifies, manages and provides supervision for game day personnel (table crew) to include hiring part-time workers and student workers provides guidance and training to personnel on athletic banquets 
• Travels with college teams; provides information to representatives of opponents sport information office about teams including updates on starting lineups 
• Provides game day statistical reports for basketball coaches during games, halftime and postgame 
• Provides game day statistical reports for baseball and softball DH, between games and post game 
• Responsible for vetting all public service announcements at college sponsored sporting events, and serves as a campus security authority as outlined by the Clery Act 
• Organizes and supervises photo sessions for all sports providing head shoulder photos of athletes and providing live in game action shots of athletes 
• Serves as Sports media liaison for the Southern States Athletic Conference at conference championship event 

Education and Experience:

 Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a defined related discipline 

At least 3 years of experience directly related to sports information duties 

Willing to secure membership in CoSIDA 

Physical Requirements: 

Able to walk stand for long periods of time
