Stillman’s School of Education is committed to providing students with the tools necessary to be highly skilled and successful educators upon the completion of their degree programs. Our mission is to train and develop educators who are professional, competent, content-knowledgeable, technologically proficient, and innovative teachers.
Stillman College, School of Education, invites applications for the Department Chair of Kinesiology to begin August 2023 or earlier, based on availability. The department chair position is a full-time, 11-month, tenure-track position with an expected course load of six courses (18 credits) per academic year.
The Department of Kinesiology offers two programs majoring in Human Performance (Non-Teacher Certification) and majoring in Physical Education (Teacher Certification). The Department also offers minors in Human Performance. Any non-Human performance student desiring to minor in Human Performance may do so by completing the required courses.
The discipline of Kinesiology is dedicated to the study of human movement and physical activity that impact on health, society, and quality of life. The department teaches the scientific basis of physical activity, and the skills and physical fitness competencies inherent in the profession that is required to be successful in public and private schools, municipal or private settings, and/or graduate school.
Emphasis is placed upon:
Terminal degree appropriate for the discipline or have equivalent in training and experience. This refers to the highest degree earned in a discipline. The doctorate is the terminal degree for most disciplines represented at Stillman College.

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in kinesiology, including exercise science, physical education, or a closely related field with an academic background and appropriate credentials to be a tenured professor in an academic department in the School of Education at Stillman College.
