KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Stillman College outfielder Lauren Haskins is a 2024 NAIA Softball All-American, earning Third Team honors, the nation office announced June 4.
Haskins, a native of Alabaster, Alabama, earned the honor after being voted by coaches as the 2024 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Player of the Year. She is the first Stillman softball player to receive NAIA All-America honors, and joins Northport native Bailey Braughton as the only known All-Americans in Stillman softball history. Braughton was named an NCAA Division II All-America Third Team selection in 2012 after earning Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Player of the Year honors as a shortstop.
“I am incredibly honored! This recognition is not just a personal achievement, but a testament to my entire team and our ability to come together within two years and create havoc within the conference,” Haskins said. “This honor reflects our collective effort throughout the season. I am so grateful for my teammates, and I will never forget our time together. A special shoutout to my family and coaches for giving me the opportunity to play the sport I love.”
Like Braughton in 2012, Haskins helped her Stillman team break the program single-season wins record in each of the last two seasons. This year, it was a program-best 37-15 record after finishing third in the Southern States tournament and earning the program’s first at-large bid to a national tournament, in which Stillman became the first historical black college or university (HBCU) to win an NAIA Softball Opening Round game. As Stillman’s leadoff hitter, Haskins hit .424 with 75 total hits, including 14 doubles, three triples and seven home runs. She scored 59 times and drove in 32 RBI. Her .482 on base percentage and .655 slugging percentage also led the Tigers, as did her 45 stolen bases. Defensively, she posted a .944 fielding percentage in 52 starts in left field.
Prior to Stillman, Haskins was a two-time Shelby County Reporter Player of the Year at Thompson High School in 2018 and 2019. After giving up on her softball career following the pandemic and her 2021 at Auburn Montgomery, Haskins transferred to Stillman in the fall of 2022, where she was named the SSAC Newcomer of the Year in 2023. In her two seasons at Stillman she has hit .420 as the leadoff hitter with 139 total hits in 331 at bats across 101 games played. She has 22 doubles, 10 triples, 12 home runs, 116 runs scored and 67 RBI. She also stole 96 bases, including Stillman’s single-season 51 bases in 2023.
The exciting part is she has one year of eligibility remaining.
“The 2024 season will go down as one of the best softball seasons at Stillman, and I am beyond grateful I was a part of it. I am excited and motivated to continue improving and contributing to Stillman,” Haskins said. “Although, sadly, we have more than enough seniors leaving us, I believe we have a strong group, and I know we will achieve great things together in 2025. I look forward to facing new challenges and breaking more records.”
